1. READ a synopsis of the play your monologue is from. Here's one resource: http://www.bardweb.net/plays/. You might consider reading a children's version of the play (really!). I highly recommend "Tales from Shakespeare" by Charles and Mary Lamb, written in the early 1800s. Here it is online, with some cool old illustrations: http://www.eldritchpress.org/cml/tfs.html. In both resources, you click on the name of the play to get the synopsis.
2. WRITE a short paragraph (3 to 5 sentences) telling me who your character is and what situation he/she is in when the monologue begins. I need this ON PAPER, next Wednesday. You can write it by hand or on the computer, but I need it on paper.
3. LOOK UP any words you aren't sure about in your monologue. You can use this glossary or find another one: http://www.shakespeareswords.com/Glossary.aspx?let=b. Jot down the meanings in the margin of your monologue.
